Birds for Kids, Where Science Takes Flight™

Birds are everywhere: backyards, school yards, swooping from city skyscrapers, and
be-bopping up and down ocean shores.

Birds leave clues for wildlife detectives to discover. A screech owl may be nearly invisible
during the day, but in the darkness of night listen for its hoots, chuckles and trills.
Finding bark chips under a tree may be a sign that a woodpecker has been tapping
messages to claim its space. Waking on a spring morning to "cheery, cheery-up"
is
a welcome sign that robins are nearby.

Head outdoors and discover the birds in your neighborhood. Take along a Wild About bird
book to learn about the birds you find. Flying in soon is the Birds for Kids™, Bird ID Key.

Birds for Kids™
is a place for exploring and learning more about the amazing creatures
with feathers and wings - birds!

Parents and Educators

Birds for Kids™ is an online resource for kids, parents, and educators with a focus on the science and
exploration of North American birds and ecological stewardship.

This online companion to the Wild About book series includes an interactive bird identification key for two levels
of learners, photo-journal activities, opportunities to contribute to science, complimentary items for downloading,
and more.  Educators will find activities and lessons for use at home and in the classroom that
target specific
elements of the National Science Education Standards.

There is so much more that we have been working on for educators and parents. It promises to be a very wild year.
